ADA Amendment Act 2008 CBLN Training
Alan Goldstein, PABSS Project Manager, Illinois ADA Project Manager and Senior Attorney for Equip for Equality, presented a captivating educational workshop to members of the CBLN on October 29, 2008. The event was hosted by 2008 New Freedom Initiative Award recipient, PepsiCo., at its Chicago QTG headquarters. With the legislation set to take effect on January 1, 2009, many employers want to know how the it will affect their policies, procedures, and bottom-line with regard to employees with disabilities (present and future).
Following a brief overview of the history of the original Americans with Disabilities Act and the evolution of its successor, the ADA Amendment Act of 2008, Alan fielded questions from the participants. The questions generated substantive discussion among the members which lasted throughout lunch provided by Pepsi.
Alan will be presenting more ADA-related workshops in the new year. If you are a representative from a for-profit business and want to be sure to receive notice of the next training session, apply for membership to the network and we'll see you there!
