TechWorks Intern Completes Job at disabilityworks!
TechWorks is a School to Work Pilot Project funded by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity. Eighteen students with disabilities that have IT and other technology skills who are high school, college and university students located in the Chicago Metro area were placed with businesses, government agencies and nonprofit organizations to serve an 8 week internship.

Pictured above (3rd from left) is Fatiah Abimbola, a Chicago resident who will be a senior at the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, NY this fall. Fatiah's internship with disabilityworks was from June 15 to August 15, 2009.
Disabilityworks, in partnership with the City of Chicago Mayor's Office for People with Disabilities, which provided technical support, and, along with an independent contractor Catherine Marsden who worked directly with the students in assisting with their placement, have successfully collaborated to provide the first-of-this kind internship in the Chicago area for talented students who have IT and other technology skills.
Congratulations to all the TechWorks interns for their success in completing their internships. Deep appreciation is extended to the businesses, government agencies and non profit organizations that provided this valuable work experience opportunity!
Recognition is extended to USA McDonalds, The Northern Trust Company, SNtial Technology, Neumann Association, POET, City of Chicago Mayor's Office for People with Disabilities, and disabilityworks.
