"Telework firm urges federal training on hiring disabled workers"
Recently, the Telework Exchange partnered with the Federal Managers Association to completed a study which revealed that nearly half of federal HR managers feel as though they lack adequate training on managing workers with disabilities, as well as other mandates related to this group. These numbers are surprising in light of the fact that nearly 3/4 of respondents stated that they are committed to hiring people with disabilities, and policy is in place which provides preferred hiring status to them as well. The federal government is exploring telework as a solution to stem the tide of fleeing workers with disabilities who purportedly are leaving their federal jobs at twice the rate at which they were hired. The study's results were released one week ahead of the Obama administration's conference on telework for more federal workers.
