Safeway's (Dominick's) Annual Campaign:
Employment Opportunities for People with Disabilities

For years, Safeway stores (including Dominick's, Vons, Pavillions) have dedicated April and August to raise funds for Special Olympics and disabilityworks' newest partner, Easter Seals. Safeway claims to employ over 10,000 people with disabilities, and hopes their campaign will raise awareness and interest among other businesses to explore the traditionally underutilized population.  For the full story, click here.

Easter Seals has provided job training services and other related rehabilitation services to people with disabilities for over 100 years. Easter Seals is collaborating with disabilityworks to offer education to employers who are seeking to recruit veterans (Operation Employ Veterans), and assist veterans and their families with a variety of needs with resources and referral services (Community One Source).

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).  The ADA was created to assist in leveling the playing field for people with disabilities seeking employment.
