disabilityworks is an important online resource that aids service provider efforts in helping people with disabilities in Illinois get training and find work. The goal of disabilityworks is to work with people with disabilities, employers, and service providers like you to break down barriers that prevent people with disabilities from finding a valuable and rewarding work experience.
As a service provider, your organization plays an important role in equipping people with disabilities with job skills they need for success in the modern workplace. disabilityworks encourages communication between service providers to better coordinate and expand the capacity for serving people with disabilities throughout Illinois.
Created by Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley's Task Force on Employment of People with Disabilities (Task Force), the Chicagoland Provider Leadership Network (CPLN) seeks to establish partnerships with employers that result in people with disabilities successfully meeting the employment needs of Chicagoland businesses. CPLN also works to enhance the provider's ability to deliver services to people with disabilities.
Job Matching Best Practices for Service Providers
When pre-screening job applicants for open positions, consider the following to determine if a particular job is the right match for a job seeker
1) Can the job seeker perform the essential functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation?
2) Will the job be enjoyable?
3) Does the job seeker have reliable transportation to and from work?
4) Can the job seeker commit to the entire work schedule?
5) Can the job seeker fully complete the application process (drug screen, skills test, background check, etc.)?
6) Does the job seeker have the required education?
7) Does the job seeker have the required experience?
8) Does the salary and benefits meet the job seeker's expectations?
